Tues Aug 24 7p: TBD vs TBD Wed Aug 25 7p: Buehler vs. Snell Thu Aug 26 6p: Scherzer vs. TBD
We're 2.5 games back now, having improved a half-game over the weekend (thanks to an extra win over the Mets). But with Joe Kelly, Julio Urias, and Mookie Betts all potentially set to return to the lineup this series, I have high hopes for another nine-game (or more) win streak. Let's get Mr. Mojo Risin' with this quick series in San Diego!

Huge catch by Pollock to rob Machado!!!
1-0 LA, B4, two out
That catch was awesome!
5-0 LA through 7.5. Could have been more, but Will Smith decided to get tagged out trying to advance to third on an RBI sac fly

Knebel gives up a two-run HR to Profar. No out, B8. 5-2 LA.
How about you get an out, Corey?
☹️
ð
One out. ð
Here’s Tommy Pham.
Jeez, Knebel is throwing meatballs here
0-2 count to Phamster the Hamster
Tatis on second. Machado up. 3-2 count
Treinen walks Machado.
Okay, tying run at the plate.
Treinen “is searching for the location” —Orel
Treinen Ks Cronenworth!
5-2 LA through 8
Kenley with two quick outs in the ninth.
Myers with a single and takes second because who cares.
Long battle with Profar.
Profar draws the walk after 11 pitches.
Kenley with a nice K to end it! WIN!
WIN
Dammit Kenley makes this difficult
Started off looking easy, then he had to scare us.
Still at 2.5GB. Let's GOOOOOO
Btw if Javy Baez is gonna swing as poorly as he did in yesterday's game, the Mets don't stand a chance vs. the Giants.
GAME 2
Trea Turner 2B
Max Muncy 1B
Justin Turner 3B
AJ Pollock LF
Corey Seager SS
Chris Taylor RF
Will Smith C
Cody Bellinger CF
Walker Buehler P
Mets and Giants, scoreless through 1 @ Citi Field
SF 1, NYM 0 (mid-5)
Would be nice if the Mets could score in this series
HAPPY KOBE BRYANT DAY!!!!
The Hated Ones leading the Mets 3-2 in bottom of 9th.
Bottom 9 for the Mets, about to lose again (now 3-2 SF)
Mets actually scored. And had a lead. But blew it.
Man on first for NYM, one out
Oh even better: Mets have 2 runs on 10 hits. Giants have 3 runs on four hits.
LoLMets
Of course the Mets loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth. And couldn't score one measly run to tie the game.
SF wins 3-2.
Dodgers go down 1-2-3 in the first, not even leaving the infield
Padres also go down 1-2-3, also not leaving the infield.
blake snell is throwing a NO-HITTER through 3.2
SD 1, LA 0 (top 4)
JT singles to break up the no-hitter. Still two out, though.
Btw Cody Bellinger is 1-for-his-last-21, including 1 AB this game
Blake Snell looks like a combination of Jay Cutler and Mickey from Bob's Burgers
You can’t win if you can’t score, Dodgers
1-0 SD, B6
Pollock and Seager both K looking in the seventh. We are still down 1-0.
Snell is only at around 100 pitches. We look like shit.
Get ready for a 3.5 games deficit.
Orel brings up a good point on the broadcast: this could be the wild card matchup if we play the Padres: Snell vs Buehler. We could game the rotation, but the Padres might have more trouble based on where they sit in the wold card race today.
It's kind of hard to imagine Tatis staying healthy for the remainder of the season. I don't hope he gets hurt, but that shoulder seems pretty fragile at this point...and to think he won't have to dive for a ball at any point is kind of ridiculous. And without him, the Padres are kind of toast. He's their straw and even now while he's still playing but all mopey and shit they're pretty impotent. Machado is a second banana and not a leader for a contender. Like a Scottie Pippen of baseball.
Smell won a Cy Young without a complete game?? Lame.
Will Smith dong!
Will Smith saves the day!!!
dammit
bUt SMelL wOUld HavE ShUT OUt thE DODgErS iN gAMe 6
Cody still looks lost
Come on, Cody
What’s with the weird caps lock cliffy
Cody is awful
Cody has to sit for a while. It’s ridiculous.
@Sax It's some thing the kids are doing on the internet these days, supposed to imply sarcasm I guess. To be honest, I'm not sure I get it either.
Pujols PH here.
@cliff, thanks for the primer! I’m so unhip.

Eduardo Perez seems like a nice guy and a decent analyst, but he sounds like he has a constant throat bubble.
Buckle up folks! Kenley in for the ninth tied at 1.
Clean inning for Kenley. On to the 10th.
Back to our non scoring ways in extra innings.
Vesia is the man! Going to the 11th!
Seriously, Cody. Come on, dude.
Barnes grounds to third. So it’s up to Muncy
So with Smith stranded at second, they IBB Trea to get to Max. T11. Two out
Flies to center.
Dodgers 0-for-6 with RISP
ðĪĶ♂️
Gift bunt flyout! Sweet!
Load the bases intentionally to face the pitcher. Hold onto your butts!
Bickford gets out of it with a big K!
Bickford was studly, but also huge props to Doc for walking two and avoiding Machado and Cronenworth, forcing the Padres to send up a pitcher (Musgrove) as PH. Bickford Ks Musgrove with the bases loaded to escape.
Going to the top of the 12th.
JT, Pollock, Seager. 3-4-5 in the order.
Wild pitch or passed ball allows Muncy to advance to third. No out.
Come on, Animal!!!
That was weird. Frazier drops a moderately difficult ball in foul territory. JT stays alive.
I thought it was in fair territory btw.
Under review
Not sure why JT didn’t stretch to third base there, as Muncy was getting tagged.
It’s ok though, Seager will come through.
Corey almost got a rbi double there
Seager Ks. Booooooo
Dodgers now 0-for-10 with RISP. And here is ice-cold CT3
Score runs dang it! I have homework!
Geez this is horrible.
2-1 count to CT3
Two out, two on.
Deuces wild.
Loaded for Smith! Let’s go!
Taylor works a walk. Which means it’s…Smith again
Well that sucked. Still tied.
Smith, why are you swinging for the fences when all we needed was a base hit?!
I can’t take this.
Going to the 13th. The bullpen has done their job. Time for the offense to do theirs.
Orel said Cody put his “touch me” swing on a change up and Joe Davis was quick to correct him and say it was a “touch it” swing. “Gotta keep it family friendly until midnight.”
My god. You can’t go four straight extra innings with a guy starting on second and not score one run. What the hell.
We deserve to lose.
One hit in those four innings.
This is unbelievable, the tightrope Doc and the team are walking
We go to the 14th.
Amazingly, the consecutive-IBBs to Machado and Cronenworth gambit has been successful TWICE tonight.
We score two in the top of the 15th.
Knebel in. I don’t think two will be enough.
Knebel gives up a two-run bomb to Tatis. Tied at 3 but Padres are still threatening.
Knebel is about to walk another Padres pitcher PH
He escapes. On to the 16th. I’m out
@Saxy...You left one inning to soon. Our Boys in Blue came back to win (I think it was 5-3).
Holy cow.
WIN
Still, 5-for-27 with RISP is not good
AJ POLLOCK IS OUR HERO! 2 RUN BOMB FOR THE WIN!
I went to bed before it happened but the highlights were great to wake up to.
Last night was Cody Bellinger's second multi-hit game this MONTH.
(Of course, he had 7 ABs; but hey, I'll take it. And if I'm not mistaken, both of his hits came late in the game. If this augurs good things from here, that would be hugely needed!)
GAME 3
Trea Turner 2B
Corey Seager SS
MOOKIE BETTS RF
Justin Turner 3B
AJ Pollock LF
Cody Bellinger CF
Billy McKinney 1B
Austin Barnes C
Max Scherzer P
SO GOOD to have MOOKIE back!!
BARNES!!!
Two-run Barnes HR to left-center. 2-0 LA
Tatis totally botches a fly ball to right, scoring Trea Turner. 3-0 LA
Scherzer looking to K 10 for all the good people of Dodger Nation.
Yu Darvish...Pitcher who was going to give us that last push to win the World Series or just another victim of the 2017 Houston Asteriks. Anyone?
And, of course the Mets let themselves get swept.
@karen: I blame the cheaters more than Darvish. I’m glad to see that he has rebounded from being hoodwinked by criminal behavior.
But we should beat him tonight.
Two on, none out. Scherzer gets his ninth K for the first out.
Then a ground out to a double play to end the inning. Wow
@Sax... I remember seeing him on one of the Dodgers pre or postgame shows for an interview and just before it started he could be heard asking 'do the fans hate me?' I really felt sorry for the guy but at the same time a really needed a scapegoat. I didn't realize just what lengths the Asteriks would go to get the big win. But, I do have to say I hate the guy in a Friars uni.
Uhoh my man Cody had a tiny little fit throwing his helmet into the dirt when he was called out at first ):
I know this is not a political blog but I really want to acknowledge our military personnel giving up their lives to get Americans as well as Afghan citizens who put their lives and their families on the line. I know there are many friends and families mourning the loss of these warriors and I feel like my words of loss at the horrific injustices done today just won't do. I think about the loss to these moms and how their losses will be felt for the rest of their lives. Maybe I relate to the moms of the soldiers because I am a mom. Whatever it might be I pray for them all.
Oh pooh on you Prisham (don't think that's the right spelling but who the hell cares.) Boys in Blue ahead 4-0 in ninth.
The only way Tatis Jr should come up is when he would not be representing the tying or go ahead run. So far so good.
Machado beats out an infield hit with two out, down by 4 in ninth.
Machado, with his run meeting zilch takes second without a throw from our Boys.
WIN BABY!!!! We sweep the bastards from down south! We are still 2.5 down but I will take it!!!
Or maybe it's 1.5. I'm a little shit faced so please forgive me.
Still 2.5.
We host the Rox this weekend. Giants @ Atlanta.
that was a satisfying sweep
