Angels @ Padres, 6.40p. Yusei Kikuchi (0-4, 3.83) vs. Michael King (4-1, 2.22). Not a lot of hope that the Angels can pull off this game, let alone this series--but who knows. Dodgers sit a game ahead of the Padres at start of play today.
Diamondbacks @ Giants, 6.45p.. Merrill Kelly (3-2, 4.09) vs. Justin Verlander (0-2, 4.50). Verlander has 262 career wins and at his 2025 pace, he...will not ever reach 300 wins. Giants are three games behind the Dodgers, in third place in the NL West, at start of play.

Detroit is up 12-0 on Boston, and it's the fourth inning.
Up 12-1, DET Jackson Jobe leaves the mound in the top of the sixth.
Watching the Padres extend their lead on the Angels. Suarez is shutting the Angels down in the ninth. Padres were up 4-3 in the eighth, but Jackson Merrill led off with a triple and Boegarts sacrificed him home, so it's 5-3 in the ninth.
Angels with a one-out PH single
Suarez walks a run in, so it's 5-4 SD, T9. One out.
Padres fans are going nuts. This will not end well for the Angels. Moncada is hacking at balls outside the strike zone on a full count.
Moncada takes ball four. Another run walked in. Tied at 5.
Suarez yanked by Mike Shildt. Bases still loaded, one out. Tied at 5.
Soler Ks on three pitches, that was ugly. Two out.
Taylor Ward, GRAND SLAM! With two strikes, he belts one to left! Angels lead 9-5, T9. Two out.
Six-run ninth inning for the Halos. Petco Park is silent!
Also, Diamondbacks beat the Giants, 2-1.
Kenley Jansen in for the Angels. He Ks Cronenworth for the first out.
Another K for the second out.
And that's an Angels victory! 9-5 LAA. Wow.
