Ohtani vs. Martinez.
After Will Smith's heroics got us past the Reds yesterday, the Dodgers now have one more game to play before the ominous trade deadline. Hold your breath for 48 more hours!
Random rantings and ravings about the Los Angeles Dodgers, written by a small consortium of rabid Dodger fans. With occasional comments on baseball, entertainment, pop culture, and life in general.

Glasnow vs. Lodolo.
Nice win for the good guys last night, with the top of our offense delivering. Blake Treinen was a little shaky but I will take it!
Let's go!
Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Montgomery "Chase" Burns.
I was driving on a long road trip and one thing I was doing to keep my mind awake was to go through the MLB divisions and name all the teams. The only one that I couldn't complete instantly was the NL Central, and I could easily name the Cubs, Pirates, Cardinals, and Brewers. And it took a while before I remembered the Reds.
And I just saw a game at Great American Ballpark last season, too.
So with that introduction, let's get to the opener of this series. It's time for Dodger baseball!
Kershaw vs. Crochet.
Sorry, readers: I am in the middle of a road trip and I'm finding it difficult to get time to post GTs.
On the plus side, I should be able to watch the game!
Sheehan vs. Bello.
Let's give a love letter this weekend to the team that gave us Mookie Betts. (And Walker Buehler isn't having a great year for the Red Sox, either.)
After last night's debacle, I am so damn salty about this team. Henriquez making that three-run error was the final straw.
I need a break.
Yamamoto vs. Woods.
Sure, we got a victory yesterday (two, if you count Freddie Freeman's return to the lineup without debilitating injury from Sunday's HBP). But facing the Twins' opposing starter today, I'd say we're not out of the Woods yet.
Ohtani vs. Festa.
The Dodgers are now 2-10 on their last twelve games, having been swept for a second time by the Milwaukee Brewers following Sunday's loss. Oh, and Freddie Freeman got hit on the wrist and will likely need amputation, the way this season is going.
Surely, we can beat a pair of twins, right? (But man, they are cute.)
Honestly, I just can't.
What a horrible start following the All-Star Break. Mookie Betts taking more time to get right; pitching arms flailing. What a mess.
Tyler Glasnow (1-0, 3.52) vs. Quinn Priester (7-2, 3.55).
The Dodgers limped into the All-Star Break with a 2-7 record over their last nine games, albeit the last two being victories (over the Giants). They're nursing a 5.5-game lead over San Diego and a six-game lead over the Giants as we start the second half.
We face a Brewers team that cleaned our clocks earlier this month, sweeping three games as part of that seven-consecutive-loss streak.
LFG.
With 2024 Home Run Derby winner Teoscar Hernandez not in this year's field, I probably won't be watching this one.
I will say, given his adductor injury earlier this year and his slowed offensive production since, I'm kind of glad he's not participating this year. That said, I was certain that last year's incredible HRD performance was going to impair his ability to mash for the rest of the year--and Teoscar ended up being fine in the second half of 2024 (and it all ended well, right?). But this year, Teoscar could probably use the extra rest.
Good luck to this year's HRD participants!
Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. Robbie Ray.
Sure, the All-Star Break starts Monday. But after yesterday's 2-1 victory, howzabout we try and win this series and get a little win streak going?
Shohei Ohtani vs. Landen Roupp.
That's seven in a row. Talk about going into the All-Star Break ice cold.
Dustin May (5-5, 4.52) vs. Logan Webb (8-6, 2.62).
Jeff Passan says the Dodgers are going to be fine, and yes, it is still a five-game lead in the NL West. But it's not like we get to face 0-7 Justin Verlander in this series--no, we will face both of the Giants' aces and 2025 All-Stars, starting with today's matchup vs. #1 Logan Webb.
Oh, I'm worried. I'm pretty damn worried.
Tyler Glasnow (1-0, 4.50) vs. Jose Quintana (6-3, 3.44).
The loss streak is five consecutive, a season high. At this stage, we either come out swinging hard here, or we limp into the Giants series beaten like a rented mule.
Whoop dee frickin' doo, Tyler Glasnow is back.
Come on, Dodgers.
Clayton Kershaw (4-0, 3.43) vs. Jacob Misiorowski (3-1, 3.20).
For the second time this year, the Dodgers have lost four in a row. I don't expect today's match to go much better, despite us starting 2025 All-Star Clayton Kershaw, as Jacob Misiorowski just out-dueled Pirates phenom Paul Skenes two starts ago.
Hoo boy. Let's hope for the best.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (8-6, 2.51) vs. Freddy Peralta (9-4, 2.91).
It doesn't get any easier for the Dodgers, now heading out on a six-game, seven-day road trip that takes them to Milwaukee and then San Francisco. After this weekend's ignominious sweep at the hands of the Cheaters, let's hope Yoshinobu Yamamoto can staunch the bleeding.
Sheehan vs. Gordon.
After dropping the first two games of the series, I've lost hope here. I hate the Astros.
Shohei Ohtani vs. Framber Valdez.
More cheaters cheating this afternoon. I hate the Astros.
SoSG Orel and I will be at the game today!
Dustin May (4-5, 4.68) vs. Aaron Civale (1-4, 4,74).
Los Angeles Dodgers picther Dustin May takes the mound tonight, only one K short of recording 250 career strikeouts.
Go get 'em, Dustin!
How can you watch this and not get chills up your spine?
Congratulations, Clayton Kershaw!
Clayton Kershaw (4-0, 3.03) vs. Brandon Eisert (2-1, 4.33).
Los Angeles Dodgers treasure Clayton Kershaw takes the mound tonight, only three short of becoming the 20th player in major league history to record 3,000 strikeouts.
Go get 'em, Clayton!
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-6, 2.61) vs. Shane Smith (3-5, 3.38).
We may have a friend in the diamond business, but will Shane Smith be a friend in the opposing pitcher business? The Dodgers have won six of their last seven games, but the White Sox just took a series over the Giants. I'm betting Shane doesn't mix with this diamond.
