Blake Snell (3-2, 1.97) vs. Zac Gallen (9-13, 5.13).
Zac Gallen has been one of Arizona's stalwarts since joining the Diamondbacks in 2019, his rookie year: 61-47 record with a 3.62 career ERA. That has not been the case for Gallen this year, but at least he has made 27 starts this year, which is 21 more than Blake Snell.
That said, Snell has a 2025 WAR of 0.6, while Gallen's is 0.5. So there you have it. I suppose you can take more than half the season off and still contribute a bit.
The Padres are playing the cream-puff Twins this weekend, so we'd better win this series.

Phillies beat the Braves 2-1.
Twins take a 5-2 lead on the Padres in the fourth. Nestor Cortes, Padres starter, chased.
Tatis threw a signed ball to a kid in the upper deck, after hitting him with an errant HR ball in BP. That's cool of Fernando.
Jason Heyward being interviewed from the Dodger dugout on Access. It's good to see him, he's getting his ring today.
5-2 Twins, mid-5 (@ Minnesota)
Royce Lewis goes yard with two out and none on. 6-2 MIN
0-0 through one, thanks to a Betts GIDP. Sigh
Rick Monday just called out David Vassegh for being the PR team for Blake Snell.
TOTALLY
Vassegh is so enraptured by Snell, it is borderline concerning.
Snell does have a good second inning: three outs on seven pitches.
MIN up 7-2 on SD
We are losing 3-0, mostly because Blake Snell sucks and can't get through a lineup a third time. David Vassegh, stop glazing. Blake Snell has the heart of a butterfly.
Rojas as a PH?! What the heck
Yeah, that didn't work out well.
3-0 AZ, end 7
Ohtani and Betts go down in the eighth.
This isn't looking good.
I blame Snell.
Snell's fastball was below his average (94MPH)--he didn't hit that velocity all night. That's because he is not good.
freeman out. smith out. this is not good.
LOSS
BLAKE SNELL SUCKS
