Game 29 Thread: April 28 vs. Marlins, 7p

Dustin May (1-1, 3.68) vs. Edward Cabrera (0-1, 6.14).

Welcome back, former Dodger first base coach Clayton McCullough (now the manager of the Miami Marlins). The Marlins are not doing well this year, suffering from sloppy defense... just like the Dodgers! So maybe it's a McCullough thing.

Gotta give some love to Andy Pages, who went 10-for-12 in the series against the Pirates, including a hone run, three doubles, and four RBI. This output alone lifted his batting average from .183 to .277, and his OPS from .650 to .861 (Pages is now sitting at a 146 OPS+, which is higher than Teoscar Hernandez (145), and is absolutely amazing).

And then, we have Max Muncy, who is at a 55 OPS+. Maybe we can trade him to the Marlins for Sandy Alcantara (whom we'll see tomorrow!).

Glasnow leaves his second start in a row early with an injury. Snell got an injection in his arm. Catman can't get back fast enough!

Glasnow to the IL now. I say let him stay there for a month and really heal up. We'll be fine.

@Q7-----Here's the thing. Tyler Glasnow has made a career of shortened seasons due to injuries. I'm not sure what the answer is... when he is on he really lives up to the hype. But this is what...his third time around with us? Don't know cause I haven't looked it up. It just seems to me that in the time he has been with us his seasons have been dramatically short.

QuadSevens said...

Yeah, completely agree. He can't stay healthy for a full year. Might as well rest him up so he can pitch in October.

Q7----Sounds totally Kershaw-esque but I love Clayton and what works works. We are in agreement. Save Tyler for October. Let the baby Dodgers toil through marathon innings in the blazing heat. I know we'll need some of our stars taking the bump throughout the season but these kids have pretty much proven themselves. Good grief, is this what Major League Baseball has come to?? If my mom could somehow miraculously be here for a game I'm pretty sure that she would not recognize it.

SAX!!! Hope you'll be hanging out for the whole game, we need the famous SoSG mojo to steam roll over those bastards up north.

May sneaks out of the second inning after two two-out singles and then a hard-hit ball to left that Conforto snares.

1-0 LA

Padres have LOST 7 of 9 of their last games. The two evilest of satan's most evil hook up to hopefully totally fucking destroy each other in the next couple of days. I am hoping and praying that this can only be good for our Boys in blue.

karen said...

5-0 Boys after five.

karen said...

5-1 Good Guys going to T6.

Steve Sax said...

Criminy, Banda.

karen said...

Oh my fucking fucking god. My boy Banda gives up a freaking, fucking slam to tie the game in the 6th.

Steve Sax said...

Banda coughs up the lead with a PH grand slam.

5-5 mid-6

Steve Sax said...

What the heck.

Steve Sax said...

Miggy Ro with a PERFECT bunt single to third. Wow.

Man on first, none out for Shohei.

karen said...

@Saxy....You are so much more kind and gentle then I in these absolutely, unimaginable, fucking moments that being simple, unassuming Dodger fans we must be abused with.

Steve Sax said...

@karen: I'm back on! I've eaten dinner! I'm watching the game! I'm drinking beer! Lots of beer!

Steve Sax said...

Slappy steals second, one out...Conforto, oft useless, at least advances Smith to third. Now it's up to Co-Player of the Week Andy Pages.

Steve Sax said...

Pages flies to left.

5-5 through 7. Shit.

Steve Sax said...

More beer!

karen said...

Max opens up the 8th with a single.

karen said...

SAX...Drink some beer for me. I can't have it but I truly, truly need it!!

Steve Sax said...

@karen: you can ALWAYS have beer!

Steve Sax said...

...but I will Esp because Edman PH flied out, and Ohtani Kd. Now here's Mookie, who is ice cold, with CT3 PR on first.

Steve Sax said...

Now CT3 has to run...

Steve Sax said...

Poor Mookie. I hope he snaps out of this soon.

Steve Sax said...

Betts down 0-2 quickly

Steve Sax said...

And Mookie Ks. What the fuck.

5-5 through 8.

karen said...

I'm with you Saxy. I want Mook to find his way out of this slump, but I pretty much love the guy come hell or high water.

karen said...

Scott turns out the double play here in the ninth.

karen said...

I haven't checked tonight's standings yet but Joe Davis just said that a win would put us in a first place tie with the bastards of the north.

Steve Sax said...

Conforto SUCKS

karen said...

CRAP...SHIT...FUCK!!!
