Well, the good news is that the Dodgers seem to be off their binge of signing ex-Giants to questionable contracts. In the tradition of Mark Loretta and Andy Ashby, it's ex-Padres we crave now.

Still, can we fault the Dodger brain trust for wanting to capture some of that San Diego mojo? They've had some magical years down there.

That Adrian Gonzalez guy was pretty good, though. I wonder what he's up to?
Hairston wasn't part of the Padres last season.
He was part of the one that flamed out the year before.
I did note that, but it failed to make me feel any better.
I have to say though, the absence of Giants signings has been one of the few bright spots in the offseason so far.
Thank God for small miracles.
Meanwhile, the D'backs are collecting Dodgers — Gibson, Rawitch....
You forgot Derrick Hall.
(cries)
...Kuroda.
(Rumored, anyway.)
"I have to say though, the absence of Giants signings has been one of the few bright spots in the offseason so far"
That's the entirety of the Sons 2012 Media Guide.
Hairy Jerrston.
And this from TBLA:
"If Harang deal is backloaded ($4.5m/$7.5m, as a guess) Dodgers will pay Lilly/Harang/Capuano/Uribe/Ellis/Hairston/Guerrier $47.75m in 2013"
Head. . .essploded.
I am... not surprised. Not even a little.
Opening Day 2012 line-up (projected)
Gordon 6
Sucky old guy 4
Ethier 9
KeMVP 8
Loney 3 (suckiness TBD)
Rivera 7 (see Loney)
Sucky old guy 5
Light-hitting catcher 2
Cy Young 1 (will likely out-hit 4 guys in the order)
Boooooo!
Is he a light hitting catcher or a no hitting catcher? Unclear on this.
Are you sure Ned just isn't recreating the 2008 Cincinnati Reds? Appearing in 7 games and going a Eugenio Velez-ish 0 for 10 for that 72-90 team: none other than Ned's old favorite, Juan Castro.
@rbnlaw 12:20p: Want to know what IS backloaded? Juan Uribe.
Now this is back-loaded.
@DB
Light-hitting will platoon with no-hitting until one is injured; then A.J. Ellis will be called up.
Oh wait. . .
At least A.J. can draw a walk.
DB,
Whaaaaaa?
DAYUM!
I think DB's back-loaded model would draw a walk. . .or a HBP.
Lohse is available. Don't tell Ned.
Is Ned the absolute worst GM in the history of professional or paraprofessional sports? I gotta think so
@DBT: Please, Colletti isn't even in the same class as David Kahn. The man gave Darko a four-year contract.
Indeed. Not even the worst Dodger GM, either, so long as we are acknowledging the existence of Kevin Malone.
I'd consider Neddy as more of Bowden or Phillips caliber
Phillips is a good comparison. Really bad decisions to go with on-field success.
Darko really got a 4-year contract? Hell, I thought that was an SNL skit?!?!?
I guess Ned could do worse.
I thought it was just the free booze talking the other day. But I like this Franklin fellow, not in the that way.
