And Game 1 features the postseason matchup of the century (that is, now that we've gotten Lincecum's two duels with the equally talented Roy Halladay out of the way).
This series may be a network's nightmare (NYY-PHI would have had the #1 and #5 markets with a combined population of 25M; instead, we've got the #4 and #13 markets with a combined population of 10M and change), a true baseball fan's dream, and a barber's anxiety. But it's also going to be the vehicle that gives the San Francisco Giants, this year's Team of Destiny (TM), what is almost certain to be the franchise's first World Series title.
(Not that we're not trying to offer alternatives.)
Giants get home field advantage, ironically enough thanks to one of our own. On the flipside, the 4:30p start time may mean that the Giants reprise the NLCS and fall short of a full house. All I know is, I'll be watching. And if you're a Dodger fan, I know you will be too.

The Giants' 11 runs equal their total runs scored in the LDS. (They scored 14 total in the LCS.)
In a losing effort, the Rangers' 7 runs are tied for the third most runs they've scored IN A SINGLE GAME in the postseason.

As if last year wasnt bad enough, being 10 minutes from Chavez Ravine while the Fall Classic was being played in Philly. This year I sit in the belly of the beast. Dante was right the deepest circle hell is a cold motherfucker.
I sat in a dark corner with a whiskey and a scowl and my dirt bags baseball hat mixed with my wrinkled suit and beer stained tie.
Paid the waitress with my Dodger card because I am too numb to be ashamed. She brought another paddys on the house and said "so cal baseball will be back". I managed a smile and then a scream of giants snatched it away.
