The fact that we KNOW he can come in in middle innings and spell the SP for at least several innings cannot be overlooked. This was exactly what happened in NLDS Game 1. The brother is versatile and experienced. Garland is an unknown out of the pen since I don't believe he ever has appeared in relief.
