I've always thought the Piazza apologists were loose with the facts. That linked article inclusive. To say that $100 million was a negociating point is disingenuous. Mike wanted badly to be the first $100 million dollar man, and flatly regected the $80M offer. To say months later that he would have taken the offer if he knew the alternative was to be traded is simply speculation. Piazza over-valued his worth and was hung up on the prestige of $100M, and Carey was a man with a hair trigger finger that didn't understand the player/celebrity quotient in sports. That was a terrible combo. In the end, blame is 65/35 fox/mike. But the apologists would prefer to put Carey's head on a pig pole, and nominate Piazza for sainthood.Ben Pratthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15128085804190777036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36360371.post-61996781339019704452009-05-06T10:05:00.000-07:002009-05-06T10:05:00.000-07:00I don't live close enough to be eliteI don't live close enough to be eliteDamonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08806581096638983674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36360371.post-56658896135884707872009-05-06T09:16:00.000-07:002009-05-06T09:16:00.000-07:00I voted for "die-hard," with a vengeance.

She's a Diamondbacks fan, as is her family.

- I'm the "go to" baseball guy at work.

- I'd rather listen to Creed than cheer for the Giants.Jimbohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03750046969725117378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36360371.post-41572435582560858582009-05-06T08:44:00.000-07:002009-05-06T08:44:00.000-07:00Depends where you live Berko.Depends where you live Berko.Eric Karroshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04070527828477695509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36360371.post-34355458242849614552009-05-06T08:27:00.000-07:002009-05-06T08:27:00.000-07:00"You'll catch a game if it's on TV"? I definitely fit the bill for Die-hard (down to the Dodger blog, of course), but I also have a season ticket plan, and the Dodgers do take precedence over other entertainment and obligations.
