Clayton Kershaw (19-3, 1.70) vs. Edwin Jackson (6-14, 6.09).
If the Dodgers can just focus in their last nine games, they've got a shot at locking the playoffs by the end of today, and the division as soon as...hmm, I guess the home series with the Giants early next week (magic number is 2 for the playoffs and 8 for the NL West title). Let's start by watching to see if Clayton Kershaw can earn his 20th win, for only the second time in his career (2011, Kershaw's first All-Star year). The Giants don't start their series with the Padres until later in the day, so wouldn't it be great if we could extend our lead back to three games before they take the field? All we need is some...focus.

Holee sheeyat, we got a game this morning? This changes my plans for the day.
Cadillacs beware! Dusty is on the prowl
Adjusted the time of the post from 8.20a to 10.30a to put it up top
Damn, FB. You know me too well.
DAMMIT!
(The DAMMIT! was bc I was aboutto do the same thing with the post, Sax.)
No, really, does Kevin Kennedy talk about ANYTHING besides:
-Pitch speed and selection
-Catcher positioning
-His days as a manager?
@Nomo
I tried to think of something else but anything I could come up with was either what you said or a derivative of what you said.
I'm feeling a drinking game coming on.
There's a little "good piece of hitting, went with the pitch" in there too, but that's it.
Matty w a 3-run homer!
that's nice way to start!
Matty exorcising his Wrigley demons?
4 runs!
Are they us?
Uribe with a 2-out single to drive in Hanley, 4-0 good guys!
Old friend Edwin Jackson can't get out of the first.
I remember his MLB debut when he beat Randy Johnson. Today was not that kind of day for him.
Cadillac in 3...2....1...
Eric Jock itch?
AJ!!!!
Are they allowed to put jackson back in?
Clayton wild to start
Figure it out, kid!
I missed Matty's homer so may I say a belated BISON STRONG!!
FOCUS Kid!!
jesus, is Clayton gonna use up all of these runs today?
Cmon, Kid, tighten it up! I gotta go to a meeting. I want to see 6-2 or better when I come back
Kershaw needs to go through his warm ups again.
Kerhaw's ERA is looking bullish, or is it bearish?
Clay only gives up half the first inning booty.
Clay getting in touch with his inner warrior in the dugout.
Holy shit, Kershaw gave up 3? What happened in the 8 minutes it took me to get from home to the bar?
Cubs have changed pitcher and catcher already now.
Lotta wind assisted fly balls.
Goddamn Chicago Cubs and their early game start times.
I guess shitty pitching is contagious? Fausto and Carlos Furious are rubbing off on Zanky and Kershaw.
nice recovery, Clayton
@DBT
Mrs Dusty, who works in entertainment, says even her own idea pitching is suffering. because of this phenomenon.
we about to get jobbed on a challenge?
Yup.
All of the sudden the [bar I'm at] has a Dodgers feed! SO FUCKING HAPPY
Those of you know where I am should quit work and join me!
apparently so
I thought that replay call was correct, regrettably.
45 pitches through 2 innings
Cub dude was safe.
@Dusty It's worse than I thought.
I have a 1 o'clock appt. Y'all hold down the fort.
AJ AGAIN?!?!
AJellis with number 2!! Breathing room for the Kid.
Okay, now I'm going.
@Dusty
Give the misses vodka/soda, and New Zealand pinot grigio. It seems to do the trick for my wife.
God dammit I missed 45 today.
@DBT
She's a tequila and whisky (not at same time) kind of gal.
64 pitches through 3. It'd be nice if Clayton could get a nice clean inning or two. It'll be a miracle (or terrible overuse by Mattingly) if Clayton makes it through 7. I am scared of our bullpen and this wind
You are exactly right, FB. Exactly.
take some pitches, you dinguses!
that was nasty
Got the game on the radio here. Heard AJEllis's second dinger. Amazing!
ugh, 83 pitches through 4. Clayton has to get in some fast innings, 10-12 pitches. He is really battling it out there
take some goddamn pitches
we're gonna need more runs
I'm gonna need more tequila.
8 strikeouts for the kid. even when he's pitching bad he's good.
Cubs pitching around AJ like he's Babe Ruth.
hell yes, pile it on. We're gonna need these runs with our pen getting 3-4 innings
Safe to bring in the bullpen bums?
I would be terrified of both leaving Clayton in and taking him out
THIS IS ACCEPTABLE.
nice indeed.
good inning, Jamey
OK I gotta go, please don't blow this while I am away
I was distracted so glad someone else made the point about pitching around AJEllis. Crazy world we live in.
NL MVP: Even when he sucks, he's better than everyone else.
Looks like I missed all the fun. Did Kid K get in 5 to get the win??
@Karen
Yes.
@DB
Cool
Yasiel showing signs of life at just the right time.
Hersch saying that Kid pretty much cemented up the Cy Young award today.
10-run lead now. Wonder if Donnie's thinking about bringing in Kenley
9-run lead...
Magic number is now 7.
Get ready to fucking cry giant fan.
WIN
Yeah,Baby!
WOOP!
I think Russell Martin just clinched the playoffs for us. Karina must be happy

POP THAT STEEL RESERVE!
oh jeez, Russ' homer was against Broxton
I AM MATT STAIRS!
So it's official? We's in?
Matt Stairs can't drink 6 cadillacs in an afternoon. Well he probably can but he can't hit lefties
We's in! start swingin the fishes!
let the liquor do the thinkin
'dres up 4-0 after 1
Wash yer hair, Timmeh (Hudson)!
i just caught that ball that Sandoval threw to first base. i live 100 miles away.
OK time for bed. If the Madres choke this away, they can eat whale's vagina
That shot probably got Russell a contract offer from Ned next year, but that just means he'll come here and hit sub-AJ and make me sad again.
Let's re-sign Broxton and get the whole band back together
post-game thread up!
