  • From "Dodgers expected to wear patch this season honoring Duke Snider" by Steve Dilbeck at Dodgers Blog:
Duke Snider was the Dodgers’ greatest position player of all time. He is their career leader in home runs, RBI and extra-base hits. He is second in doubles and total bases, third in runs and fourth in hits and slugging percentage.

It should come as no surprise that the team is making plans to pay tribute to Snider this season by adding a memorial patch to players' uniform sleeves. Snider died last Sunday at age 84.

[Update:] This would mark only the sixth time in the Dodgers’ 121-year history they have worn a memorial patch and the first in 11 years.

Previously they wore patches for Jim Gilliam, Don McMahon, Tim Crews, a combination patch for Don Drysdale and Roy Campanella, and for Pee Wee Reese in 2000.

"We’re still in the process of determining how we’ll honor Duke’s memory," said Josh Rawitch, team vice president of communications.

  • From "Dodgers, D-backs game to benefit Green Fund" by Ken Gurnick at Dodgers.com:
The Dodgers confirmed that they will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in Tucson on Friday, March 25, with proceeds benefiting the fund established in the wake of the January shootings that claimed six lives, including the 9-year-old daughter of Dodgers scout John Green. [...]

The game will be played at Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium at 1 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Tucson Together Fund, which assists victims, witnesses and their families associated with the tragedy.

  • From a Dodgers press release:
Metro will again offer Dodger Stadium Express bus service from Union Station in downtown Los Angeles to Dodger Stadium beginning March 28 with the Dodgers pre-game series and throughout the regular 2011 baseball season under a grant approved by the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC). [...]

Round trip tickets on Metrolink trains associated with the Dodger home games will cost between $8 and $10 depending on the distance traveled. Regular fares will apply on all bus and rail lines connecting with the Dodger Stadium Express service.

Funding under the MSRC grant will be used to offset the cost of fares on the Dodger Stadium Express bus service for passengers possessing a Dodgers ticket. Service will be provided starting 90 minutes prior to the beginning of the games and will end 45 minutes after the end of the game.

The Dodger Stadium Express will begin at Union Station picking up Dodgers fans at the Patsaouras Bus Plaza adjacent to the east portal of Union Station and continue to Dodger Stadium via Sunset Blvd. and Cesar Chavez Avenue. Passengers will be dropped off and picked up in the Dodgers parking lot behind Left/Center field.[...]

Service will be provided every 10 minutes prior to the start of the game and run approximately every 30 minutes throughout the game. Metro will deploy state-of-the-art 40-foot clean burning compressed natural gas (CNG) buses. Dodgers admission tickets will be honored as fare payment to ride the bus service. Those without a ticket will pay regular one way fare of $1.50.

Glad to hear about the patch. Hopefully they'll sell #4 pins, too, for nerdy collectors.

Your Gunners giving up some points this morning, RBN. Great last 30 minutes of the match.
